I have just a bit of experience in this area. From experience, you don't have to do anything to your c02 tank, just empty it and then demonstrate to the TSA agent that it is empty by depressing the pin valve.

why waste $25 on a tank that ur only going to use a few days just rent one or borrow one if you have a friend there. most fields allow you to just rent a tank

thanks for the info it's going to be verry helpfull when i go to oklahoma's d-day

Good post. I think is stupid to have to take apart your tank to have it sent to a game. We're traveling to the World Cup this year and I don't know what we're going to do if we fly. Im not taking my reg apart that I know.

Check my thread in the Great guns thread for Timmy tech help or PM me

Think about the people WILL join this forum in the future, not just yourself. If it's really bothering you that much, don't keep reading the thread.

I travel a lot with my gear. I also treveled this past Christmas ('04) and had no problem with checking my empty cylinders (CO2) with the overpressure blowout disk removed. I wish I had known this information. I lucked out in not loosing cylinders. BTW, when I pasted the .gov link for the information literature I get a 404 error.

This is a new regulation, but you have lucked out in the past. I have always had to remove the pressure blowout disk or the cylinder would have to be thrown away. You have luckily run across airline agents who understood how to recognize empty cylinders (most would not) or just didn't understand the potential danger. Also for those that do not know, you cannot legally ship full cylinders either (FedEx or UPS or anyother method)
