Anyone in here dove hunt? The season starts today at 12 noon in NC. I think it is one of the most exciting kind of hunting. I usually use my remington 1100 20 guage. Just wondering....

All I had to get was a $10 county hunting licens. But if you are under 16 you have to have a hunter's safety course card. Ive taken the course 3 or 4 times through the ag dpt. at my school.

Doves can fly fast, about 45 Mph. That makes them very challenging and fun. However not the best eating.

Where I used to live in Ca, there was a stand of mesquite trees by my home. For about 15 minutes before it got dark they would come in by the hundreds to roost. Never had more fun.

They make good apetizers if you cook them right. I take the breast and wrap bacon around it and bake it. It tastes great that way. My mom sometimes will put the meat in rice or pastry.

I thought it was illegal to hunt with a .22? Maybe it's just here in
Michigan you can't, I don't know.

I hate people who hunt solely for sport. You don't eat dove, you hunt them for the hell of it. You waste a creatures life without extracting anything out of it save a brief surge of primal joy. Disgusting.

(edit) this is applicable towards anyone who hunts solely to kill.

I went and shot 16 doves, the limit is 12 but as soon as I got my limit I took all the birds home then came back and shot 4 more. It was so fun. I used 2 and 1/2 boxes of shells. My dad is cooking them right now. He is frying half of them and broiling the rest with bacon wrapped around them. We only eat the breast....Im a breast man...
