Woke up this morning feeling a little insecure did we? But before you get all warm & fuzzy over your post think about a few things- like the US has a much larger population, a space program and spends many times what Canada does on things like aid to foreign countries the UN ect. It's not quite as cut and dry as you try to make it. |

i think after reading this thread..my IQ has dropped 10 points..but, owell, Ill add to it.
I heard canadiens have to dress up in fur coats and wear snow shoes. And they live in houses made out of ice, and have to go ice fishing to survive. |

Out of our total GNP, Canada spends more money on foreign aid than the US does. |

Last time I checked, we were in a huge "comflict". Maybe thats why our debt is so large.

LOL- are you apoligizing for having an embarrassing GNP? You know why Canada does not need to have a huge military? Cause it shares the block with the biggest, baddest dawg there is and they know the big dawg ain't going to let anything happen on there block so why should Cananda worry about anything? |

You know that saying "Todays Allies Are Tomorrows Enemys. Todays Ememy Is Tommorows Ally" Canada has nukes remember that or everybody looses. |

Well I am a Canadian. And I'll jus say a couple things. We arnt as good as we think. Especially when it comes to foreigh aid. Of the top 22 industrialised countries we rank 17th for the amount of aid given. And 19th in the amount of peacekeeping we do. ( I read this in a time magazine at the dentist the other day) As for spending 6.5 billion dollars on a military with around 50 thousand people that are ready to go, I somehow think that dosnt make sence. I'll admit our military is lacking but we dont need to spend all that money on it. Especially when there are so many better places it could be spent. One thing you have to give us credit for though is all the equipment we desighn. Like the c-7 assualt rifle which is being intergrated into the American Army due to how much better it is then the M-16. We also desighned the camo that is being intergrated into the american army and the night vision goggles. Here is something to think about though when you think about military spending. If the whole world didnt spend any money on wars, or militaries or what not for two weeks and you took that money you could eliminate poverty with it. |

America's deficit is so staggeringly large because we import more than we export, NOT due to a massive spending orgy on the military. Americans like fancy things that we can't produce here in the US. Ever notice that almost everything we buy says "Produced in (Insert Country Name Here)". |

All the things mentioned in this thread makes me proud to be Canadian. Canada does not value weapons of mass destruction, or war, instead we value health care, and education. If some bully of a country would want to take us over, I say let them. That is the attitude that has won the U.S. so many enemies, and the attitude that continues to encourage war. So if you want to keep "protecting" the world, I'll see you after the fall out. |

Well that pretty much says it all now doesn't it? "If some bully of a country would want to take us over, I say let them." WOW!! I won't even say a word I'll let the Canadians here waste this guy (hint look under rocks, in gutters or perhaps a dress shop or two- I think that's where cowards hide mostly). Edited by Ajreaper |

The US is cousing alot more damage than good. "Our way is better". That sounds alot more like a dictatorship or Facism to me. Each country is entitled to handle its own problems its own way. Everyone here in Canada feels like this way. I bet if war broke out here American troops would be called in to Protect the oil resourses in Alberta. Americans listen up mind your own business. If that did happen And most of the troops went to those locations youlll have lots more problems. And the truth about you would be revealed. Pay back is a **edited**. I am Canadian!

That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. If a bully country were to take you over, what good would all your precious medicine and education be??? They'd take what they wanted, make you slaves, and plunge you back into the dark ages if they could. Oh, and... Don't go getting pompous about all the ways you think Canada is better than the United States. The truth is, the people of the United States are more free than the people in any other country anywhere. That is both our pride and our shame. Because, given freedom, a great many people choose to do and to be nothing. |

Yes, because I'm sure that you are the spokesman and policy maker for Canada I'm sure your 5,000-man Air Force made up of Canadian Geese will swoop down over the frozen tundras and across our borders, dropping so much crap on our windshields that we won't be able to drive to work and our economy will come to a screeching halt. Put simply, you've got no idea what you're talking about. Canada leans on the United States for a great many things and has for a long time. Who keeps a watchful eye on the entire coast of North America? The United States does, about 90 miles from where I'm sitting in Cheyenne Mountain. You may have heard of it. It's called NORAD and Canada needs it just as much, if not more, than the US does. I'm not arguing that the USA is superior to Canada; mostly because such an argument is pointless due to the immeasurable nature of the subject. The two nations are different and they lean on each other in a great many ways. |
