New hires strengthen company’s focus on advancing paintball technology and product design

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (June 5, 2009) – Tippmann Sports is more dedicated than ever to its longtime pursuit of cutting-edge paintball technology and product design. Despite a worldwide recession, the company recently strengthened its research and development team with the hiring of Joe Harter and JR Rice. Harter has been named Director of Engineering and Product Development while Rice has been named Senior Product Development Engineer.

Prior to joining Tippmann, Harter served as Engineering Manager/Advanced Engineering at Delphi Electronics in Kokomo, Ind., where he managed design and development of new products and manufacturing sites for 13 years. He also previously served as Project Manager/Product Engineer for Delco. In addition to substantial experience in electronics, Harter has obtained more than 20 patents in the United States and Europe. In his new role, Harter will be working closely with and reporting to Denny Tippmann, Jr., Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Research and Development for Tippmann Sports.

Rice, well-known to many in the paintball industry, is widely touted as the engineering genius behind Angel – he helped develop one of the first and most respected electropneumatic paintball markers ever manufactured. In addition to his product development responsibilities, Rice will also be involved with global sourcing for Tippmann. He will be based out of the United Kingdom, further expanding the company’s presence in Europe.

“We’re thrilled to have Joe and JR aboard at Tippmann. These hires certainly add some serious muscle to our already strong R&D team,” said Denny Tippmann, Jr. “As an industry leader, we always want to be pushing the envelope to discover the latest and greatest paintball technologies. It’s critical in today’s competitive marketplace to be offering paintball players new and exciting products on a regular basis – and we’re certainly well positioned to continue doing that in the years ahead. Although we have introduced five new markers and numerous other upgrades and accessories in the last 18 months, our goal is to accelerate new marker introductions.”
